"Dr. Elagib is currently a visiting professor and CNRD chairholder of Natural Resources Management in the Context of Global Change at the ITT, Germany. He was the Head of Department of Hydraulic Structures from 2003 to 2006 at Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST). He was also the founding dean of the College of Water & Environmental Engineering from 2005 to 2006.He was the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships, including the Overseas Research Student Award Scheme (ORSAS), UK (1998-2001), the Faculty of Engineering Prize, Research Poster Exhibition 2000, University of Paisley, for his PhD work and the Georg Forster Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany (2011-2013). My research aims to improve the understanding and characterization of phenomena related to natural resources by integrating across physical, agricultural and socioeconomic elements to help offering potential options for integrated natural resources management. My research interests include *Contemporary hydrological and climate change and variability * Drought and aridity (indicators, and risk, early warning and management) * Environmental consequences on hydrological and climatic regimes of dam construction, irrigation and urbanization * Interactions between vegetation dynamics and climate/water balance components * Irrigation performance and efficiency "
